Network Security
IP network security has been a concern of ours since
the early 1990s. The world discovered the Internet and all
of a sudden all the weakness that were never exploited in
the Internet's original academic mode are now prey to thousands
of hackers. We were there when Trusted Information Systems
released the first verson of the Firewall Toolkit. THE first
firewall. The state of the art has progressed significanly
since that ascii file driven packet filter was first relaesed.
We were also building VPNs before they were called VPNs.
They were encrypted tunnels before the marketing folks got
wind of the function.
We designed an implemented our first two-tiered firewall
design in 1994. It was the first two tiered firewall architecture
in existence according to our knowledge. An outgrowth of
that original two tier design is the system we presently
recommend for companies with critical information systems
on-line. Today the two tier firewall system is more of the
norm and some people are even installing three tier systems.
As always security and performance are a delicate balance.
The bottom line here is that we do not install "cookie
cutter" systems. We evaluate your present security
risks and make decisions according to your budget. If there
is any great disparity between the two we'll be sure to
advise you.
